Sivananda Rehabilitation Home, Kukatpally, has launched a unique free rehabilitation care facility for poor patients from Government hospitals in partnership with noted health care voluntary organisation, Helping Hand Foundation (HHF).
With the rising burden of chronic diseases, three out of four patients with stroke need critical care, almost half of them need ventilator support and another quarter need tracheostomy
care.
The special rehabilitation care is a common denominator for all post-discharge patients, which has become prohibitively expensive, senior officials from the Rehabilitation Centre and HHF said.
The newly launched 20-bedded Sivananda Physio Rehab center will make rehab care equitable and accessible for not only post-stroke cases but also a bunch of patients with trauma and other chronic disabilities, free of charge.
