Free power supply provided to 51,207 Ganesh pandals

Amid the significant rise in power demand across the State due to the El Nino impact, Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) extended free power supply to 51,207 Ganesh pandals under its jurisdiction.

During the financial year 2026–27, a total of 51,207 Ganesh idols and pandals were registered across the 21 circles under TGSPDCL. For these installations, a total connected load of 1,12,586 kW was sanctioned, and the government bore an electricity expenditure of nearly Rs 17.80 crore, officials said.

Municipal Corporation and Cyberabad Corporation limits, covering the circles of Banjara Hills, Hyderabad Central, Hyderabad South, Secunderabad, Cyber City, Rajendranagar, Saroornagar, Habsiguda and Medchal, 20,128 Ganesh idols and pandals were installed. A sanctioned load of 60,217 kW was provided for these installations, with an estimated electricity expenditure of Rs 9.04 crore.

Special monitoring arrangements were made at major immersion centres, including Hussain Sagar, Tank Bund, NTR Marg, IDL Lake, Saroornagar, Uppal, Durgam Cheruvu, Medchal and Rajendranagar.
