A man allegedly cheated a jewellery shop owner by using a fake PhonePe payment application in Julurpad of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Tuesday.

According to reports, a man, identified as Rajesh, visited a jewellery shop and purchased a gold ornament worth Rs. 97,000. He then showed the shop owner what appeared to be a successful payment on a fake PhonePe app.

Believing the payment had been

received, the shop owner handed over the gold ornament, after which the man left the shop on a two-wheeler.

A short while later, when the owner checked the bank account, the amount had not been credited, revealing that the payment confirmation was fake.

Everything was captured on the CCTV cameras installed at the shop. A complaint has been lodged, and the police are trying to trace the man.
