Four detained for allegedly attempting to sell newborn baby in Hyderabad

The Balapur police detained four persons for allegedly attempting to illegally sell a newborn baby girl to a couple in Shaheennagar.

According to the police, a woman delivered the baby at a government hospital in Malakpet earlier this week. Police said that a woman, identified as Waheeda, allegedly persuaded the infant’s parents to sell the child to a couple in Shaheennagar and negotiated a deal worth Rs. 5



lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, the Balapur police formed special teams and intercepted Waheeda when she allegedly arrived to hand over the infant to the prospective buyers at Shaheennagar. Four persons were detained in connection with the case.

The infant was rescued safely, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the roles of all those involved and the circumstances leading to the alleged child sale attempt.
