Former Hyderabad ball badminton player Kumar Mohanty passes away

Kumar Mohanty, former national ball badminton player, passed away here. He was 74 and is survived by a daughter and a son.

Former Hyderabad State Ball Badminton Association secretary K Vijaya Prasad Reddy, also vice-president of Ball Badminton Federation of India, said Mohanty represented Hyderabad State (Telangana players used to represent Hyderabad as a State in those days)



for nearly 25 years before retiring as Sports Officer in BHEL.

Mohanty will be remembered for his skill and for winning matches from seemingly lost situations on countless occasions, helping the State team secure many championships, including Nationals.

He also served as a coach and member of selection committees.
