B Prasada Rao, former DGP of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, passed away in US following a cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife and son.

A 1979 batch IPS officer, Prasada Rao also served as Hyderabad police commissioner, ACB chief and other posts. After his retirement, he was associated with the education sector.

Prasada Rao along with his wife went to US and had been staying with his son and other family members for a few months now. At around 1 am (IST) in the wee hours of Monday, he complained of chest pain. He was declared dead by the ambulance staff who arrived to shift him to the hospital.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has mourned the death of Prasada Rao. He conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.
