The state forest department seized 50 kg of glass-coated nylon thread (Chinese manja) in a raid at Dewan Devdi in the old city on Friday. The officials, who conducted the raid following a tip-off, said they got some more leads on the stock and sale, and raids are set to continue their crackdown on the sale of the banned nylon thread which is used to fly kites.

squad of the forest department, in coordination with Mir Chowk police, raided a parcel office and seized the nylon thread which was brought from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The forest department launched an awareness campaign against the sale of banned Chinese manja keeping in mind the upcoming Sankrant i festival. The thread was banned in the state on January 13 this year.
