Five boys allegedly escaped from the Government Children Home for Boys at Saidabad.
Though the incident occurred on July 21, it came to light after the juvenile correctional home authorities approached the police and lodged a complaint on Thursday.
As per available information, the boys who are aged between 16 and 17 years had their dinner with other inmates in the dinning section situated on the ground floor of the building. They then went to the first floor, from where they are believed to
have broken the lock of the grill door and escaped.
Of those who escaped, three reportedly belonged to Telangana and two were from Andhra Pradesh. Their fellow inmates who realised they were missing informed the authorities.
After searching for them in all possible places, the authorities informed the police.
Based on a complaint lodged by the juvenile home authorities, the Saidabad police are investigating. Special teams are on the job to trace the missing children.
