A comprehensive fire mock drill was conducted at the TG ICCC Building in Banjara Hills on Monday to demonstrate safe evacuation procedures during emergencies such as a fire, and how employees can protect themselves independently.
Various departments participated in the drill, including the Fire Services, Health, Municipal, Hyderabad Police, NDRF, Roads and Buildings (R&B), Electricity, Ambulance Services, Water Works, and the Hyderabad Traffic and Law and Order wings.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand emphasised that employees residing in and working at such buildings must be aware of the building’s structure, emergency exit routes, fire alarms, and the location of fire safety equipment.
He highlighted that the TG ICCC building was constructed with comprehensive fire safety precautions and warned against underestimating fire
hazards.
“Such drills are highly beneficial in understanding how to respond during an emergency. They help occupants become familiar with evacuation routes. We are striving to convey that safety is crucial for everyone in Hyderabad,” he said.
The drill began with the sounding of the fire alarm. Upon hearing it, all occupants evacuated the building calmly and in an orderly fashion, avoiding any panic. During the simulated smoke conditions, people practised bending low or crawling to stay below the smoke.
TG ICCC Director VB Kamalasan Reddy noted that those on upper floors are at greater risk during a fire. He advised that controlling the flames must be the immediate priority in such situations.
He added that the TG ICCC building is equipped with all necessary fire safety infrastructure and urged everyone to use these systems effectively in emergencies.
