Parents of a student from Muthyampet village in Koutala mandal have lodged a complaint with Education department officials, alleging that a teacher assaulted their son for failing to read English alphabets at a government school on Wednesday.

Thirupathi, father of the student, Kartheek, alleged that language teacher Sai beat his son indiscriminately on Tuesday when he was unable to read English alphabets properly, causing swelling on

his legs and hands. He urged officials to take action against the teacher and ensure such incidents do not recur.

Mandal Educational Officer Hanumanthu said the matter would be brought to the notice of the District Educational Officer after a field inquiry within a day or two. He stated that corporal punishment was unacceptable and added that disciplinary action would be taken against the teacher based on the findings of the inquiry.
