Filling of posts in GHMC is under active consideration of the government. Posts of town planning officers, bill collectors, health assistants will be filled through Telangana State Public Service Commission, according to Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao.
Replying to a starred question by V. Bhoopal Reddy (TRS), he told the Legislative Council on Wednesday that posts in all the new municipalities would also be filled. This year five major gram panchayats — Jalpally, Jillelaguda, Peerzadiguda, Boduppal and Meerpet — were upgraded as

municipalities. They were released a total grant of Rs. 322.70 lakh. This included SFC grant of Rs. 90.60 lakh and plan grant of Rs. 232.10 lakh, KTR said.
He said power bills amounting to Rs 1,000 crore were pending with municipalities. He saw nothing wrong in making use of the funds granted under the 14th Finance Commission for clearance of arrears. Earlier, Leader of Opposition Mohd Ali Shabbir, said municipalities should generate their own resources and government should not divert funds given under 14th Finance Commission to pay their power bills.
