Nominations for the first phase of Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections will begin on Monday. Election will be held for 197 ZPTC posts and 2,166 MPTC posts under the first phase. Polls will be held on May 6 from 7 am to 5 pm.

While nominations will be received from Monday, the last date for submission of nominations is April 24. The next day, nominations will be scrutinised and objections will be received on April 26.

The deadline for withdrawal of nominations will be 3 pm on April 28 following which the final list of candidates in the first phase will be announced. Poll campaigning can be held till May 4, 48 hours prior to polling commences on May 6.

Around 1.47 lakh government staff including 50,000 State police personnel underwent election training, while the police personnel have been already deployed in the ZPTC and MPTC segments. For the first time in Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections, nominations can be submitted online through the State Election Commission (SEC) website. A hard copy also must be submitted to the Returning Officer within stipulated period.
