Father and son file nominations for sarpanch post in Medak

In an unusual contest, a man and his son were competing for the sarpanch post at Jhansi Lingapur in Ramayampet mandal.

The election for the village, which would be held in the second phase, was a major topic of discussion across the district. 

Former sarpanch Manegala Krishnaiah and his son Venkatesham had filed nominations for



the post.

Krishnaiah was elected as sarpanch of the village in 2013 and 2019 when he was supported by BRS. He was elected unanimously in 2019. However, he had recently joined the Congress Party. 

While he was preparing to file his nomination papers, his son Venkatesham submitted his nomination as they failed to reach a consensus.
