The Fast-Track Court for Pocso Act and rape cases on Tuesday convicted Chilkur Sandeep Kumar, 20, to 20 years jail and Rs 50,000 fine for raping a four-year-old child. by. The court also directed that a compensation of Rs 3 lakh be paid to the victim.
Police said Kumar had lured the victim, who was playing with her friends, and assaulted her. The victim told her her family, who lodged a complaint with the Rajendranagar police.
The Bharosa team counselled the victim and her family, under the supervision
of women?s safety wing DCP, Dr Lavanya N.J.P, ACP, Prasanna Lakshmi, Bharosa inspector, P. Padma and centre administrator Gadusu Jyothi.
The investigation was overseen by Rajendranagar ACP K. Ashok and inspector, G. Suresh and the trial was conducted by special additional public prosecutor, B. Venkateshwara Reddy. Legal counsellors Dhruthi Chowdary and Chandu Alimela and court duty constable N. Krishnayya contributed to the trial. City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar appreciated the personnel for their efforts and coordination.
