Farmers from across Kathalapur mandal staged a maha-dharna on Tuesday, demanding that the State government release Godavari water into the flood flow canal by lifting it from the Kaleshwaram project through reverse pumping.

The protest was held at the bus stand area in Kathalapur, bringing vehicular traffic to a halt. Farmers from all villages in the mandal participated in the demonstration,

expressing concern over the water crisis amid delayed rainfall.

Speaking at the protest, the farmers said that despite the cultivation season already beginning, insufficient rainfall and the lack of water in the canal had severely impacted agricultural activities. They urged the government to take immediate action by releasing water from the Kaleshwaram project to support ongoing farming operations.
