Farmers protest over urea shortage in Karimnagar

Farmers staged a protest at the PACS sub-centre in Karimpet of Shankarapatnam mandal on Tuesday, demanding urea distribution.

Though 230 bags of urea were supplied to the centre about 20 days ago, several farmers who had queued up were unable to get the fertiliser. On learning that a fresh stock had arrived, a



large number of farmers gathered at the centre on Tuesday morning.

Fearing they would miss out again, elderly farmers who had failed to secure urea earlier demanded priority in distribution before others.

Alerted about the protest, police reached the spot and pacified the agitating farmers.
