Farmers staged a protest at Sairam Fertilisers in Pulkal mandal headquarters on Tuesday, accusing the shop of charging Rs.30 to Rs.40 above the MSP for a bag of urea.

The farmers confronted the shop owner after being asked to pay more, which led to an argument.

With no satisfactory response, they squatted on the road and raised slogans

against the Congress government. Traffic was disrupted until police arrived and persuaded the protesters to clear the road.

The farmers demanded strict action against the shop owner for overcharging.

Reacting to the incident, former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said the State government had completely failed to ensure urea supply to farmers.
