Farmers staged a rasta-roko demanding the allotment of more green manure seeds to Thoguta mandal near Rythu Vedika on Thursday.
The farmers further alleged that the government enhanced the price of green manure bags from Rs 1,100 to Rs 2,200, making a burden on the farmers. Speaking on the occasion, BRS mandal president, Jeedipally Ram Reddy, said that the government allotted just 200 bags of green manure seeds for the entire Thoguta
mandal which would be not even sufficient to a village’s needs.
He further said that the Congress government cheated the farmers by denying loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa. Unless the government sends more green manure seeds to Thoguta, he threatened to intensify their protests. When agriculture officer Mohan tried to convince the farmers to withdraw the protest, they questioned him over the poor allotment of green manure seeds.
