Jagtial: In a tragic incident, a farmer was burnt alive in his agriculture field at Veldurthi in Jagtial rural mandal on Tuesday afternoon. The incident came to light late in the night when family members found his charred body in the field.

According to police, Pothuganti Laxman Goud (54) set fire to paddy stubs in his agriculture field on Tuesday afternoon and he accidentally caught fire. 

Laxman Goud, who had an eyesight problem, failed to notice the flames. With nobody in the vicinity to rescue him,



he was surrounded by the fire and died on the spot.

When he failed to return home in the evening, family members enquired with toddy tappers since Laxman Goud had the habit of consuming toddy regularly.

Later in the night, they checked in the field and found his charred body. 

On coming to know about the incident, police rushed to the spot and began investigation. The body was shifted to Jagtial hospital for postmortem.
