Vexed with the Forest Department’s alleged apathy in addressing his grievance, a young farmer, Srinivas, attempted to hang himself at the District Collector’s Office main gate here on Thursday.
Tension prevailed at the Collector’s Office when Srinivas climbed the main gate and tried to hang himself. Police personnel posted at the office, intervened immediately and persuaded him not to take the extreme step.
Srinivas, a resident of Chittlapally in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, claimed that he
owned 24 guntas of land and said he had a passbook to prove his ownership.
However, the Forest Department reportedly objected to his claim and insisted the land was part of forest territory, reports said.
Challenging the department’s stance, Srinivas had been visiting the Collector’s Office for several days, appealing to senior officials to resolve the issue.
He had also approached the District Forest Officer multiple times, seeking a land survey, but found no relief, according to reports.
