Task Force police in the Shamshabad zone of the city have taken into custody a three-member gang involved in manufacturing and circulating counterfeit currency.
Police identified that the accused were producing fake notes and putting them into circulation in the market.
Acting on specific surveillance, the police arrested the three accused and seized counterfeit currency notes worth a total of Rs 2.90 lakh from their possession.
Along with the fake notes, police also confiscated the equipment and various materials being used to manufacture the counterfeit currency.
Following the arrests, police have stepped up vigilance regarding the circulation of fake currency in and around the Shamshabad area.
The Police are investigating several key angles as to where exactly the fake notes were being printed, and who the individuals involved in this gang and their network are.
