Former Maoist leader Tippiri Tirupati, popularly known as Devji, secured a 349 State Rank in the recently conducted Telangana LAWCET (Law Common Entrance Test) for law course admissions.
The results were released on Friday, and he reportedly scored 57 marks in the entrance exam, which now makes him eligible for the five-year law program.
After spending nearly 40 years in the Maoist movement, Devji, who
was considered one of the most influential surviving insurgents, returned to mainstream life, which was a breakthrough in the Telangana government's efforts to end Left-Wing Extremism in the state.
In an interview during the time of his surrender in February, he had mentioned that he was interested in pursuing legal education to advocate for marginalized communities and seek justice through the system, which he once opposed.
