Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday directed all District Collectors to complete the land upgradation and purification of revenue records to ensure litigation-free records and transactions.

Mahmood Ali was reviewing the department’s functioning in a video conference with Collectors on mutation, assigned lands, urban celling, Occupancy Rights Certificate (ORC) and other land revenue issues.

Speaking about the mutation process, Ali said the procedure of mutation should not be kept pending for days together and should be processed within a fortnight. The status report must be delivered to the applicant even if their application is rejected. “Officials should consider the mutation process on a priority basis and ensure proper

procedures are followed,” the Deputy Chief Minister directed.

He also reviewed the ‘Land upgradation and purification’ programme. To arrive at the exact figures of assigned lands, agriculture lands, government lands, the purification process is being carried out in all the districts. “A detailed report on total assigned lands, number of beneficiaries enjoying the holdings and other details should be furnished,” Ali said.

Ali, who holds the Revenue portfolio, explained to the Collectors that during his recent surprise visits to sub-registration offices, he had found some sub-registrars entering the 22A coloum wrongly. “District Collectors need to take up this issue seriously and correct them,” Ali instructed.
