Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Panchayat Raj Department, Sangem Anil Kumar, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 7,000 from a contractor in Jagtial on Wednesday.

According to ACB officials, Anil Kumar is posted in the Vigilance and Quality Control Wing of the Panchayat Raj Department.

The engineer had allegedly demanded a bribe of



Rs. 18,000 from a contractor, K Venkatesham of Korutla, to issue a quality control certificate related to three works estimated at Rs. 32 lakh. Following negotiations, the AEE agreed to accept Rs. 10,000.

Venkatesham, who had already paid Rs. 3,000 earlier, approached the ACB. Based on his complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught Anil Kumar while he was accepting the remaining Rs. 7,000 in his office on Wednesday.
