The security personnel at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) recovered eight live bullets from the checked-in baggage of a passenger on Thursday.

The passenger, identified as Sukhdeep Singh (32), a resident of Bhawanigarh, Punjab, was scheduled to travel from Hyderabad to Amritsar via Delhi.

As per available

information, during the baggage screening, officials found live ammunition. Upon inquiry, Singh could not produce a valid arms or ammunition licence.

He reportedly told investigators that the bullets were left over from an incident in Punjab in 2023, claiming he had been carrying them unknowingly, the statement which is now being verified.
