Alleged negligence of electricity officials has cost farmers dearly at Chinna Mupparam village of Inugurthi mandal in the district as eight buffaloes died due to electric shock.
A resident of the village Venkanna told the media that electric poles fell down pulling down live electricity wires to the ground due to winds and rains three days ago. The matter was taken to the notice of the electricity department officials but no action was taken.
The failure
of the officials in repairing the electricity line led to the death of the cattle, Venkanna said. The farmers whose buffaloes died cried bitterly at the loss as the cattle were their main source of livelihood.
The according to villagers the buffaloes belonging to Kaleru Bhaskar, Harish, Pedda Devender, Chinna Devender, Raju, Shivaji, Ramesh and Rajasekhar went grazing on the outskirts of the village on Thursday; came in contact with the severed electric wires and were electrocuted.
