A police head constable and a home guard sustained injuries when a drunk man attacked them with a knife inside a police station, following a family dispute in Kubheer mandal centre on Thursday night.
Police said head constable Narayana received an abdominal injury, while home guard Giri suffered minor injuries when the man, identified as Kaleem from Dharmabad in Maharashtra, tried to stab them at around 9 pm. Narayana was shifted to a government hospital in Bhainsa, where his condition is said to be
stable.
According to police, Kaleem had picked an argument with his wife in Kubheer village. When his in-laws threatened to register a case against him, he attacked the police. Intoxicated at the time, he struck the constable and home guard before others in the station could react.
He absconded after the incident but was later detained. Police registered an attempt-to-murder case against him, and he is likely to be produced before the media by this afternoon. Investigations are under way.
