Tension prevailed in Narsampet after a driver of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation allegedly attempted self-immolation amid the ongoing RTC strike in the state on Thursday.

The employee, identified as Kola Shankar Goud, poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in front of the Narsampet bus stand, protesting against the delay in merging RTC with the state

government.

He sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital in Warangal, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

RTC employees have been staging protests across the state demanding the merger, with demonstrations reported from several depots. Authorities are monitoring the situation as tensions continue.
