The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Thursday seized four elephant tusks and intricately carved ivory articles weighing about 17 kg in total and apprehended three persons allegedly involved in their illegal sale here.

Acting on specific intelligence, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officers laid a trap and intercepted the three persons in the Banjara Hills area while a sale transaction involving the

elephant tusks and ivory articles was underway, an official said.

The four tusks and ivory articles were recovered and seized under the relevant provisions of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. The DRI has been actively combating wildlife crime across the country through intelligence-based operations targeting the illegal trafficking and trade of wildlife, wildlife trophies and articles derived from protected species.
