HYDERABAD: The high-end Audi Q3 car worth about `25 lakh that was stolen by a person who posed as a doctor is unlikely to have crossed the state borders. Investigators believe that the car is still within the city and is either moving on the streets or is parked in a safe place.

Banjara Hills inspector K Venkateswarlu Reddy said a notorious offender might have been involved in stealing the car. Police suspect that the offender, who was indulged in similar crimes, is involved in this theft too and is verifying the footage of Closed Circuit Television (CCTVs) that were collected from various places from where the car was traced after it was stolen.

“A special team has initiated probe into the case in

different angles. A sketch of suspect is being prepared based on the description given by the complainant,” police said.

Minutes after the theft, Banjara Hills police alerted all the toll gates and police posted at checkposts on borders of neighbouring states. “The Audi car that was stolen from resale car point did not cross the borders. The vehicle is still roaming in the city,” an official said.

Police is reportedly verifying the details of more than 200 suspects during investigation. It was also revealed that the staff of the car resale point trusted the miscreant who entered into the office with a stethoscope posing as a doctor. “The staff believed that the offender as he spoke good English,” police said.
