Deputy CM Bhatti orders removal of illegal cables from electric poles

After two incidents of electrocution in Hyderabad which led to death of seven people, Telangana Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed officials to expedite the work to install power cables underground in the city.

At a review meeting held with Power department officials at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday (August 19, 2025), the detailed project report (DPR)



submitted by a consultant pertaining to the underground cables was discussed. 

Mr. Bhatti has also directed officials to remove the cables on electric poles across the State on war footing. Though notices were issued to cable operators in the last year and sufficient time was provided, they did not respond. The officials were asked to give a stringent response against illegal electric connections.
