Dead flies, expired food items, synthetic food colours and hygienic conditions were noticed during raids carried out by the food safety teams of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) at three eateries in Medchal and its surroundings.

The teams recommended improvement notices to the eateries and asked the management to take corrective measures on priority.

At Baisakhi family dhaba in Kandlakoya at Medchal, the team found expired baby corn and black pepper masala in addition to synthetic food colours used in Chinese food

items.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and trade licences were not displayed at the premises.

Medical fitness, pest control, and water testing records were not maintained and the kitchen was open to the outside environment without protective mesh. Open dustbins and unlabelled semi-prepared food items were found apart from dead flies inside the refrigerator.

Rusted iron knives were used for food preparation. The team discarded expired food items, synthetic food colours, and rusted iron knives.
