Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar on Tuesday urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules to prevent deaths caused by road accidents.
He was speaking at an awareness programme for auto rickshaws and lorry drivers, titled Arrive Alive, organised as part of the ongoing road safety week here.
Citing data, Bhaskar said road
accidents in 2025 had claimed 150 lives in the district, leaving several families shattered.
He stressed that road safety was everyone’s responsibility and advised two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, while asking drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules. He warned that stern action would be taken against those found driving under the influence of alcohol.
