Congress MLA and former minister Danam Nagender on Wednesday accused the BJP of protecting voters affiliated with the saffron party while removing the names of others during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
He asserted that Congress would ensure that the names of all genuine voters remain on the electoral rolls and are not deleted during the revision exercise. Speaking to media, Danam said, "Voting is a fundamental right.
How can the BJP delete voters' names without properly examining the merits and demerits of the portal? They want a
double-engine government and are trying to include bogus votes. That is not going to happen in Telangana."
He further stated, "Our primary responsibility is to protect every genuine voter. We have asked our Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to conduct door-to-door verification. If voters' names are being deleted for any reason, we will question it.
We have obtained the electoral rolls and will ensure that every genuine voter remains on the list. At the same time, if anyone is found to have more than one vote, those duplicate entries will certainly be deleted."
