The Cyberabad Police on Saturday organised what they described as India’s first ‘Defreeze Accounts Mela’, issuing No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to bank customers whose accounts were frozen during cyber fraud investigations.

Elaborating about the event, T Sai Manohar, DCP (Cybercrimes), said

accounts suspected to be linked to fraudulent transactions are immediately frozen after complaints are received through the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

However, a detailed verification of nearly 110 such accounts found that some holders had no involvement in any offence.
