Cyber fraudsters duped an elderly woman of Rs. 50,000

Hyderabad: A woman was cheated out of Rs. 50,000 under the pretext of renting out her house.

Sharada Devi, 63, a Shamshabad resident, advertised for a house in Andhra Pradesh that she wanted to rent out on the OLX platform.

A person who went by the name Deepak Pawar called the victim and asked her to send pictures of the house. He asked about the rent and



other things. He offered to pay the advance through an electronic payment gateway and pretended to agree to rent the house.

The con artist instructed the victim to click on a link he had sent her in order to obtain Rs. credited to her account: 50,000. Instead of depositing Rs., the woman clicked the link. Her bank account was debited with $50,000, according to the Shamshabad police.
