Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar made a surprise inspection to the Boggulkunta Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) to oversee the functioning of Covid outpatient services that were launched in government healthcare facilities in the State on Thursday.

Stressing on the need to provide treatment to all the people with Covid-19 symptoms by giving them medical kits without waiting for test reports, Somesh Kumar told staff that if the fever persisted for more than four days, the patient should be administered steroids.

“The medication will save people from breathlessness and occupancy of hospital beds will also reduce,” he said.

The Chief Secretary also went around the health centre and interacted with doctors, who said while the regular services were being provided in

the centre, Covid-19 OP services were being provided in a nearby community hall.

The Chief Secretary, who also reviewed the ongoing fever survey in the city, enquired about the medicines, health advice and the overall treatment given to people with fever symptoms.

“People with fever symptoms should get themselves tested in the nearest hospital and use the free medicines provided to them,” he said.

To contain the spread of Covid-19, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is doing a door-to-door survey and making a list of people having fever and other Covid symptoms. The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Secretary for Health SAM Rizvi, GHMC commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and other officials.
