Kamareddy: A CRPF jawan hailing from Kamareddy district, who travelled from Delhi to Ramagundam in coach S9 of Uttar Sampark Kranti Express on March 13, was shifted to the Chest Hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday with symptoms of coronavirus.

It may be noted that a group of 10 Indonesians had travelled in the same coach to Ramagundam and eight of them had subsequently tested positive for conoravirus. The entire group is now in Gandhi hospital undergoing treatment.

The CRPF jawan, a resident of School Tanda in the district, approached the district hospital with symptoms of cold fever and body-ache on Thursday. Doctors at the hospital, on getting to know his

travel history, immediately shifted him to the Chest Hospital in Hyderabad.

Sources said the jawan reached his village on March 14 and developed cold, cough and fever on March 16. What is worrisome for the district medical officials is that the jawan, after deboarding the train at Ramagundam, had travelled by various modes of transportation including bus and auto-rickshaw that makes several secondary contacts vulnerable should he test positive for the virus. Besides, the jawan’s native village has a population of 1,050.

Meanwhile, the integrated health team in the area has intensified its efforts to bring about awareness among the villagers on coronavirus.
