City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar inaugurated a network of 100 CCTV cameras installed in four police stations in Asifnagar police division on Tuesday.

The cameras were installed at important areas in Humayunnagar, Asifnagar, Langer Houz and Golconda police station limits.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjani Kumar said the cameras were installed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh with community participation. “The crime rate was brought under control by setting up closed circuit television cameras on thoroughfares and localities in the

city. Cases can be detected easily with the help of CCTV camera footage and it can act as deterrent to law breakers too,” he said.

The Commissioner urged the people to come forward and install surveillance cameras in their neighbourhood as part of the ‘Nenu Saitham’ project. He recalled that previously several teams were formed to identify and nab an offender involved in any crime and now the same work was being done by a handful of people using technology including surveillance camera footage.
