Divya was celebrating her birthday on Sunday before she along with her husband Raja Gavini (41) and their friend Premnath Ramanatham set out on a trip, which ended in an accident in Frisco of Dallas in US. The three were on their way to Dallas to inspect their house that was under construction when the accident took place.

The accident has left relatives and friends in the city shocked. Divya, who was driving the car and Raja Gavini and Premnath (42), inside the vehicle were killed on the spot, according to media reports.

Divya’s family residing in Jagadamba Apartments in Golconda crossroads in Gandhinagar, received the tragic news through their relatives in Texas. Divya’s mother Shiva Leela is yet to be told about the demise of her daughter, since she fainted on hearing that Divya was involved in an accident.

Divya’s father Gautham Avula, a retired bank manager said his daughter, Raja and their friend Premnath had dropped their daughter seven-year-old Riya at a dance class before they set out to Dallas to visit the house site. The two had got married in 2007. Divya had pursued her engineering course in Kanchipuram after



completing her studies in Hyderabad. After doing an engineering course, Raja completed his MS from the US and was presently working as a software engineer in an IT company.

Premnath, a native of Guntur district, has been Raja’s friend for long after both went to college together. The family, who had last spoke to Divya on February 21, requested the media persons not to disturb them as were already in a shock. Soon after accident, the Frisco police informed the matter to the couple’s friends. Divya’s sister, who is also in the US, received the information and passed on to her parents in Hyderabad.

Another person associated with the family said efforts were on collect more details about the accident. “We are touch with both Divya’s sister and friends in Frisco to complete the formalities in getting the bodies. It might take at least a week to get the bodies to the city,” he said. Divya’s family is receiving several phone calls from their near and dear ones enquiring about the accident. Her father’s phone was continuously ringing ever since the incident came to light around noon on Tuesday.
