Constable suspended for assaulting wife in Mancherial

A police constable was suspended for allegedly abusing his wife by taking her caste name and assaulting her while in an inebriated condition at Reddy Colony here on Sunday night.

Orders to this effect were issued by Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Amber Kishore Jha on Monday night.

As per the order, D Ravi Prasad, a constable



attached to the Mancherial town police station, was placed under suspension after a case was registered against him under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following a complaint lodged by his wife, Shirisha. 

Investigations are on. A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, causing embarrassment to the police department.
