Congress releases first list of 65 candidates for Telangana assembly

The Congress party released its first list of 65 candidates and TDP released 9 candidates to contest Assembly elections in Telangana.

The Congress formed the Grand Alliance (Mahakutami) with TDP, Telangana Jana Samiti and CPI and announced earlier that it will contest 94 seats and leave remaining 25 to its allies in the 119 seat Assembly.

AICC released the list of candidates late in last evening in New Delhi.The list include 10 women, 14 SCs and 6 STs.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy, working presidents Bhatti Vikramarka and Revanth Reddy besides most of the former ministers from Telangana found place in the first list. The list also contain the names of the recent entries from other parties like Revanth Reddy and Venteru Pratap Reddy, both from TDP, Nagam Janardhan Reddy from BJP and Konda Surekha from TRS.

The Congress late on Monday released the names of 65 candidates for the Assembly polls. The list comprised non-controversial seats, and there were no surprises.
