IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has strongly defended the Telangana Government's decision to constitute Farmers' Coordination Committees across the State.

Addressing the Farmers Coordination Committee in Sircilla on Wednesday, KTR said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao took a revolutionary decision to constitute the committees to ensure payment of MSP for crops and also to prevent suicide by farmers due to financial problems. He said that the previous Congress regimes benefitted its party workers through 'Adarsh Rythu' scheme, but today it was objecting to 'Rythu Samanvaya Samithis'.

KTR said that the State Government was constructing several irrigation projects to make effective



utilisation of Godavari and Krishna waters and achieve the goal of providing irrigation water to one crore acres of lands. He said farmers were being provided power supply on 24x7 basis while all small lakes and tanks were being revived. He said several new godown were constructed to store 17 lakh Metric Tonnes of agriculture produce at a cost of Rs. 1024 crore.

The minister alleged that the Congress leaders were unable to tolerate the measures which are benefitting farmers. He said leaders from eight different States, including Congress-ruled States, have visited Telangana and praised TRS Government's schemes. However, the Telangana Congress leaders were only criticising the State Government.
