A Congress candidate’s follower allegedly assaulted a voter for questioning him over problems in a colony in Adilabad on Wednesday night. A video clip of the attack went viral on social media platforms on Friday.
The candidate, Sanjay, was campaigning in ward number 44 of the town. A resident, Yogesh, faulted the candidate for visiting the ward only during elections. He said that side drains were not being cleaned, while garbage was not being lifted regularly. He
demanded that Sanjay address the challenges first and then seek votes.
Sanjay, upset by the response from the local resident, stopped his campaigning and left the place. A few minutes later, one of Sanjay’s followers allegedly attacked Yogesh for raising the issues in the presence of his family members.
The follower abused the resident, accusing him of embarrassing the candidate by questioning him over issues being faced by the ward.
