Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wants most parts of the metro rail project be completed this year, chief secretary SP Singh has directed the district collectors of Hyderabad and Rangareddy, and the GHMC commissioner to expedite acquisition of the remaining properties to bridge the gaps in the metro corridors.
Singh reviewed the progress of the Hyderabad Metro Rail works at a meeting of the Special Task Force (STF) held here on Tuesday. As one of the officers who initiated the Hyderabad Metro Rail project and being founder-chairman of HMRL, Singh said he would closely monitor its progress so that the city can start reaping its benefits as early as



possible.
HMRL MD NVS Reddy, who made a presentation on the progress of the works, told the chief secretary that work on foundations, pillars and viaduct has been completed. Works on the road overbridges at Alugadda Bavi, Oliphanta and Malakpet are in full swing and the work on the RoBs at Begumpet and Lakdikapul has also picked up speed.
The chief secretary asked Hyderabad collector to complete acquisition of properties in Badichowdi, Sultan Bazar and Putlibowli areas in the next few months for laying metro line. He instructed the GHMC commissioner to expedite acquisition of affected properties in Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda and Jubilee Hills.
