The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP&NG) has informed that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sales in Hyderabad geographical area (GA) has increased from approximately 1.12 lakh kg/day in the financial year (FY 2023–24) to approximately 2.1 lakh kg/day as of June 2025, reflecting more than 100 per cent increase.

Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL) has informed the Ministry that it is in the process of continuously identifying new locations to cater to the demand. In Telangana, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorised nine GAs for development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) infrastructure including one GA spread over Telangana and Karnataka.
