Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday instructed Irrigation Department officials to complete the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and ensure its operational readiness to provide irrigation through it to farmers by next year’s rainy season.

“Complete this project just as the way you completed the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme,” the Chief Minister told officials. His directive came at a review meeting at Pragati Bhavan on projects in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.

He said with completion of work on several ongoing irrigation projects, half of

the district was being provided irrigation and the rest should be irrigated by the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project. Just as in the case of Kaleshwaram, work should be taken up in three shifts for the Palamuru project. Rao said work on reservoirs under the project as well as that on canals and pump houses should be taken up at the same time and officials should make regular visits to the project site to ensure their timely completion.

The meeting was attended among others by Irrigation Department Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao, and Chief Engineer Ramesh.
