Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasized on the need to strengthen the MMTS services within the Core Urban Region (CURE) of Hyderabad on par with increasing transport requirements of the people.
He inquired about the declining number of passengers in utilizing the MMTS train services in the recent times.
At a review meeting with officials, the Chief Minister directed officials to increase the frequency of MMTS trains during peak office hours and ensure that services were operated as per schedule with punctuality.
Officials pointed out that MMTS stations were situated away from main
roads and lack of RTC bus connectivity to the stations was a task. To this, the Chief Minister wanted the officials to explore the feasibility of operating mini-buses to facilitate seamless last-mile connectivity for commuters.
He also instructed the officials to provide necessary amenities for passengers at all the MMTS stations. Commuters would opt for MMTS services only when required amenities were provided, he said.
Officials were ordered to conduct a study and submit a report on the measures to increase the number of passengers, improving amenities and strengthening last-mile connectivity.
