2nd September' 2021 was a historic date for Telangana in general and TRS in particular when TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for the party’s new office building at Vasant Vihar in New Delhi. TRS will be the second regional party from south India to boast of an office in the national capital.
Chandrashekhar Rao along with TRS working president and IT Minister KT Rama Rao took part in the rituals amidst vedic chants by priests.

The TRS party office was christened Telangana Bhavan like the party headquarters in Hyderabad. After the ceremony, the Chief Minister met the party leaders who were also present on the occasion.

Recalling the TRS’ journey in the last two decades beginning from ‘Jala Drushyam’, where the party was launched by Chandrashekhar Rao, Rama Rao said the upcoming Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi would be a symbol of Telangana’s self-respect and existence.

He described the foundation stone for the party office building by Chandrashekhar Rao in the national capital as a historic moment since the same leader had launched the TRS two decades ago. September 2 would forever remain in the history of Telangana movement and TRS, he said, and recalled the two decades of statehood movement and the subsequent journey of rebuilding the State. “The TRS faced several challenges during the movement,” he said.

From the days where the word Telangana was completely banned to the repressive measures adopted by former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who forced the party to vacate ‘Jala Drushyam’ by throwing out furniture and other articles, and the obstacles faced

during the tenure of former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the TRS had cleared each obstacle and moved forward. Resolving several political issues, Chandrashekhar Rao mustered massive support for separate Telangana with his constant lobbying in the corridors of power in New Delhi, he said, adding that under his leadership, party leaders sacrificed their posts several times.

Chandrashekhar Rao, he said, finally realised the six-decade old dream of the people of Telangana by achieving statehood with the movement. “He put even his own life at risk but achieved what he set out for despite two national parties – Congress and BJP – playing hide and seek over the Telangana issue,” he said. For the last seven years, under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao, the State had witnessed major development and priority was accorded to Telangana language and culture that faced damage extensively in undivided AP, Rama Rao said.

Rama Rao said the TRS, which achieved two historic milestones – statehood for Telangana and its rebuilding – had now laid the foundation stone for construction of the party office in the national capital. The ceremony was conducted in a festive atmosphere in the presence of hundreds of leaders and party activists.

He recalled the car rally conducted in New Delhi during the initial days after establishing the party and the number of visits made to the national capital since then to achieve statehood for Telangana. “It is a proud moment for the cadre as TRS being a regional party is the second one from South India to establish a party office in New Delhi,” he said, congratulating everyone in the party.
