CM KCR accorded grand welcome at Vasalamarri Village

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was accorded a grand welcome by the villagers on his arrival at Vasalamarri to participate in community lunch and gram sabha on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister, who came to the village by a special bus, was given the traditional ‘mangala harathi’ welcome by the womenfolk. Chandrashekhar Rao first visited Kodanda Ramalayam in the village and performed pooja.

With the arrival of the Chief Minister, a festive atmosphere filled the village as people had decorated their houses with traditional mango leaves and flowers. Some villagers, who had migrated to Hyderabad and other places in search of livelihood, returned to Vasalamarri to participate in the community lunch and attend his gram sabha.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao called upon the people of Vasalamarri village to work towards self-governance and self-reliance by developing the village into a model for all. He wanted them to work with the motto ‘one for all and all for one’ and weed out discrimination and hatred towards each other in order to progress together.

Addressing the villagers at Vasalamarri in Yadadri Bhongir district here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister sought the support of the villagers to transform it into ‘Bangaru Vasalamarri’ within the next one year. He said that not a single police case should be registered in the village and if there are any differences between the villagers, everyone should work together to resolve it amicably. He urged them to be affectionate with their fellow villagers and lend a helping hand to those in need to ensure bonding amongst themselves.

“People should set aside their differences and should not allow any kind of discrimination – caste, religion or even politics. Development should be our caste and religion. I appeal to all to spare two hours per week for development of the village and if this is done, we can transform the entire village within one year,” he said, and asked them to put in special efforts to develop greenery in the village. He asked them to develop the village on the lines of Ankapur in Nizamabad district which made great progress with community



participation.

The Chief Minister appointed District Collector Pamela Satpathy as the special officer for development of the village. He also announced that the government will release Rs 100 to Rs 150 crore for development of the village after finalising the plans and proposals. But the funds should be put to proper use which will be possible only when the entire village works unitedly, he asserted. 

He suggested constitution of various committees including village development committee, Shramadaan committee, sanitation and drinking water committee, agriculture committee, Haritha Haaram committee and others, within the next few days.

“This is just a beginning. I will visit the village at least 20 times more to develop it on all fronts. During my next visit, I will interact personally with all of you to discuss the development plans for the village,” he said. 

He directed the officials to gather complete details about each family in the village and prepare plans based on their requirements and also that of the entire village. He emphasised the need to meet the needs of the village using the available resources. He suggested identification of unemployed people and provide them with livelihood to ensure that every adult person in the village has some work to eke out a livelihood.

Two days before Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s visit to Vasalamarri, the Health department completed the Covid vaccination of all the villagers above 18 years of age.

Of the total population of 2,600, more than 2,000 are 18+ years. The Health department completed the vaccination to all of them two days before the Chief Minister’s programme.

The district authorities also made foolproof arrangements for the Chief Minister’s programme in the village. They issued passes to all the 2,600 villagers and allowed only those who had passes to attend the gram sabha in which the Chief Minister participated.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwath personally supervised the security arrangements for the Chief Minister’s programme at Vasalamarri.
